Top 5 cities to fall in love in (and with)

With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, it’s the perfect time to broaden yours. If you’re still stuck for what to get your loved one, how about tickets for a trip to one of these stunningly romantic cities? Planning a couples getaway to one of these timeless destinations is an irrefutable way to show your significant other how much you love them.

Paris

They don’t call it “The City of Love” for nothing. There are dozens of romantic things to do in Paris. Picnic under the Eiffel Tower. Stroll through the Luxembourg gardens. Visit the Palace de Versailles. Eat croissants in Café de Flore, overlooking the Seine. Serenade your loved one with an accordion. Okay, maybe don’t try that last one without practicing first.

Vienna

If you want to feel like you’re in a historical romance novel (minus the clichés), Vienna is the place for you. See Gustav Klimt’s The Kiss in person at the Belvedere Museum, and then recreate it yourself in the back of a horse-drawn carriage. Whatever you do, make sure you take in as much of the beautiful classic architecture as you can.

Rome

Speaking of history, where better to experience romance than with the Romans? Take a passeggiata (a leisurely stroll) as you view the awe-inspiring remnants of Ancient Rome. And don’t even get us started on the food. Anticipate having to loosen your belt a few notches.

London

For a more contemporary feel, but no less romantic, head to London. You and your loved one can view the city from above on the 31st floor of The Shard or while riding the London Eye ferris wheel. Go to the St. Paul Cathedral whispering gallery to whisper sweet nothings, followed by a walk through Hampstead Heath. You won’t want to go back home.

New York

The penultimate location for modern romance. With so many things to do in the Big Apple, it’s easy to make your own romantic traditions. Whether you’re going to Times Square and scoring tickets to Hamilton, or discovering cool hole-in-the-wall places, there’s something for everyone.
